This Spring I received an order for some shiplap paneling and trim to finish up a room in a cabin. This was a nice sized order for me at the time since I was just starting up the sawmill business in my new shop.<\/p>

An order of shiplap paneling can be filled in about three weeks, depending on the weather and if I have anything in stock at the time. If I am sawing fresh lumber then it can take about three weeks for 1\/2 in thick shiplap to dry and be ready to work wtih.<\/p>

The cabin just had bare framing and insulation at the time the customer placed the order with me.<\/p>

I immediately got the sawmill fired up and started to fill the order. First I had to saw out the pallet of 1\/2 in shiplap. I was to make a mixture of 6 in wide and 8 in wide shiplap paneling to mix it up some for the customer.<\/p>

Once I had the lumber sawn out and drying in the air it took about two weeks for the wood to be ready to work on the machines. I ran the paneling boards through my shaper table and made the shiplap grooves. This took about a day and a half for me to run them all through.<\/p>

I have since purchased bigger and better machines so I can now run an order of this size in a couple hours compared to a couple days before.<\/p>

After running on the machine I stickered and stacked the paneling for another week to be sure it was dry enough. We do not want the wood to shrink after it has been installed. This would create unsightly gaps in the walls.<\/p>

I also ran some 3\/4 in thick by 3 in wide trim for the customer to use in framing out the windows and doors. This was also drying during the entire period.<\/p>

The customer allowed me to get some photos once the work was done. I did not do the installation, the customer did. But I was thankful to be able to get some photos when done.<\/p>
